Tata Motors has launched the Harrier.ev in India at a starting price of Rs 21.49 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it as a strong contender in the electric SUV segment. The Tata Harrier.ev competes directly with Mahindra’s electric SUV coupe, the XEV 9e. Here’s a detailed comparison of these two electric SUVs to help you make an informed choice.

Design Comparison

The Tata Harrier.ev retains the muscular and bold styling of its diesel predecessor but adds EV-specific touches such as a sealed grille, revamped bumpers, and aerodynamic alloy wheels. Built on Tata’s Gen 2 EV platform, it offers a blend of familiar aesthetics and modern electric vehicle design cues.

In contrast, the Mahindra XEV 9e is built on the new INGLO Electric Origin platform and showcases a futuristic design. With its coupe-like sloping roofline, sleek front fascia, and connected LED tail lamps, the XEV 9e stands out with a more aggressive and modern silhouette.

Powertrain & Performance

The Harrier.ev offers two battery options—65 kWh and 75 kWh—with a front motor delivering 158 PS (116 kW) and a rear motor outputting 238 PS (175 kW). It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.3 seconds. The fast-charging capability enables a 250 km range boost in only 15 minutes.

Mahindra’s XEV 9e comes with 59 kWh and 79 kWh battery variants. The 59 kWh pack generates 170 kW of power, while the 79 kWh produces 210 kW, both offering 380 Nm torque. It accelerates 0-100 km/h in 6.8 seconds, with a maximum range of 656 km on the larger battery.

Features

Tata’s Harrier.ev is loaded with premium features including wireless charging, air purifier, powered tailgate, cruise control, and dual-zone climate control. It also boasts advanced tech like autonomous parking assist with summon mode, a 540-degree surround camera, a digital key, and a 14.53-inch Neo QLED infotainment screen powered by Samsung.

Mahindra’s XEV 9e offers a triple-screen dashboard featuring three 12.3-inch displays powered by Adrenox software, a 16-speaker sound system, panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, and automatic parking assistance.

Safety

The Harrier.ev includes 7 airbags (including knee airbag), DVR, transparent mode, all-wheel disc brakes, AVAS, and over 20 ADAS features like ESP with i-VBAC, hill hold, hill descent control, and more. It also offers front/rear parking sensors and electronic parking brake with auto hold.

Mahindra’s XEV 9e features up to seven airbags, a 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS, an air purifier, rear defogger, and auto-defogging windshield. Its 360CHECK live view and recording system enhance overall passenger safety.

Price Comparison

The Tata Harrier.ev is priced from Rs 21.49 lakh (ex-showroom) with bookings starting from 2 July 2025. Meanwhile, the Mahindra XEV 9e starts at Rs 22.65 lakh and goes up to Rs 31.25 lakh (ex-showroom), depending on the variant.
